Men & Women for Gender Equality
From February 2020 until August 2021, Abnaa Saida Association (ASA) implemented the “Men and Women for Gender Equality” project, which aims to raise awareness and skills among the target groups on the importance of justice and gender equality. In partnership with the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) and Kafa Organization, the project came in response to a fundamental need, which is to engage the youth in Saida city and sensitize them on issues affecting their lives and impeding the achievement of gender equality.
During the project’s implementation, Abnaa Saida managed to empower 630 beneficiaries (54% female, 46% male, 70% aged from 18-34 years) of different nationalities, on principle concepts of gender-based violence, gender equality, and positive parenting. In addition, ASA supported community initiatives and contributed to youth involvement in social change. Various community groups participated in the activities, such as youth, fathers, mothers, and key figures, which provided an opportunity to exchange knowledge and build relationships in the community.
On the other hand, Abnaa Saida Association was able to reach 59,000 indirect beneficiaries through social media platforms and online campaigns on advocacy to reduce gender-based violence, promote positive parenting and gender equality, and challenge social norms.
