Partners for Justice
Since 2019, Abnaa Saida Association (ASA) has been implementing the “Partners for Justice” project, which aims to reduce violence against women and girls in Lebanon by transforming the attitudes of women, girls, men, and boys towards patriarchal norms that define masculinity, and addressing the root causes of violence against women and girls in partnership and cooperation with Search for Common Ground (SFCG).
The association's representatives participated as youth leaders in building their skills and capacities to mainstream a positive and fair gender and masculine perspective in their work through a series of organizational training workshops. These skills were employed through the implementation of several activities, including youth-led research by representatives of the association, stakeholders’ mapping, participation in a national media campaign to raise awareness, initiatives represented by drawing murals, panel discussions, workshops, and awareness training sessions on gender, masculinity, sexual and reproductive health, and Rights (SRHR).
In the third phase of the project, which was implemented from December 2022 to September 2023, the mapping will be conducted. Key stakeholders, especially male members, will be involved in community development, implementation of action plans, and participation in dialogue and discussion sessions to ensure the establishment of genuine male allies in Saida, who support women and girls in preventing and responding to violence against women and girls. These activities deepen the participation of all relevant stakeholders in preventing and combating violence against women and girls in Lebanon and Saida in particular and create collective movements for change.
