Rise and Recovery
From November to August 2023, Abnaa Saida Association (ASA), in partnership with the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), implemented the “Rise and Recovery” project, which aims to develop the association's role in advocating for gender issues and resolving gender-based conflicts that affect society and negatively affect security and peace among genders.
The project worked directly on developing the role of workers and volunteers in the association, and those of the community members indirectly. It highlighted the role of women community leaders and their increased influence in society. The approach of capacity-building and empowerment of the team also helped in developing a strategic plan and strengthening the necessary media resources for the association.
Abnaa Saida managed to empower 60 beneficiaries of the association (48 females, 12 males) of different nationalities and train them on leadership skills and tools, peacebuilding and conflict resolution SDG16, SDG5, advocacy skills and tools, digital advocacy, technology, and remote work tools.
The project contributes to enhancing the positive image of the role of women community leaders in local and community decision-making and dissemination of a culture of peace, by spreading a positive image to change attitudes and break the stereotype about participating women.
